Wind speeds up to 160 mph (257 kph) are measured and updated every 10 seconds to capture wind gusts and maximum wind speeds. The direction is reported in degrees or cardinal directions, depending on your preference.

Automated rain gauges like those found in AcuRite Iris™ and Atlas™ model weather stations offer a digital display, and they provide a very precise liquid equivalent measurement once the snow melts.

Can you measure snow in a rain gauge?

Be sure to place your rain gauge in an open area, away from water that could drop from a roof or from trees. After it snows, find your snow board using your marker. This way, you can measure the amount of new snow during the rest of the snow- storm or the next snowstorm.
